ESCAPE Family Support considers itself privileged to be at the heart of the communities it serves and our volunteers provide the skills and energy to enable us to maintain the wide range of services we offer. We have recruited more than 50 over the last two years and they are involved in a wide variety of roles including peer mentor, counsellor, administration, support group and drop-in, diversionary activities, fundraisers and therapists.
With around 300,000 residents, Northumberland is the least populated county in England and the population is spread over 5000 km2. Its sheer size creates transport and isolation problems for those in rural communities.
We aim to reach out to those communities by developing hubs of support for substance misusers, carers, families and friends wherever they live.
