Gateway to the Cheviot Hills



Following a successful bid to the Empty Properties Programme, Glendale Gateway Trust currently own and manage eighteen properties which they let at an affordable rate. The properties are largely conversions of properties that have been bought or acquired through Asset Transfer – the income received from rents is directly reinvested into the Glendale community and is the largest social enterprise the trust operate.

Engaging Glendale

Engaging Glendale is a project which aims to inform young people and social and physical activities available to them in Glendale. You can view the information at various locations in Glendale on digital screens:

Remote Learning

This project will enable Glendale residents to take part in a broader range of social and educational courses and activities and at the same time introduce them to new ways of using information technology to provide alternative solutions to problems, for example listening to talks.

Residents will have access to more adult education and lifelong learning than previously available, (or which has been removed due to cuts in Adult Education funding). They will be able to learn in their local area, rather than travel to the nearest town, e.g. Berwick upon Tweed- 34 round trip from Wooler. Increased accessibility will sustain adult education courses by enabling a higher number of candidates to participate.
