The Glendale Gateway Trust is a local development Trust which was set up in 1996 to promote, improve, maintain, encourage and advance the benefit of the inhabitants of Glendale. The Trust is a community lead body and is represented by local volunteers as well as retailers, local councillors and local organisations. On the ground the Trust has been active in implementing recommendations from the Wooler Village appraisal and community initiatives including: The Cheviot Centre which opened in November 2000, this is an all-encompassing community facility. The project brings together community activities and services to improve access and sustainability. The Cheviot Centre is also be a major visitor attraction and houses the Tourist Information Centre and an exciting National Park exhibition interpreting the rich, hillfort heritage of the area. Also on permanent display is be the Millennium Cross-stitch, which depicts local history and culture. There are community offices, a children's area with creche facilities a large community rooms for hire. A ten place computer room with internet facilities was added in 2002. The centre has full access including a lift to the upper floor.
