The Visitor Centre is an ideal starting point when visiting Ford & Etal.
Situated just across the road from Heatherslaw Mill, the Visitor Centre provides information about Ford & Etal Estates as well as the many attractions in the surrounding areas of North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
A short screen presentation, "Ford & Etal - Portrait of a Working Estate", portrays the challenges facing the estate whilst information panels, displays, maps and 'trails' leaflets provide more useful information for visitors to help them make their way around. The Centre is not staffed every day but when manned there is always a friendly face on hand to welcome visitors, give advice or answer questions.
Disabled parking and toilet facilities are available adjacent to the building. For visitors who are unable to access Heatherslaw Tearoom, the Centre is used as an alternative venue - please ask staff in the Visitor Centre or Tearoom for a menu and they will be pleased to assist you.
The Visitor Centre is a stamping point for Sustrans Pennine Cycleway (Route 68) and there are plenty of cycle stands available on site.
Examples of the work of various craft producers of Ford & Etal are on display and available to purchase.
