Sunday Services: There is a celebration of Holy Communion – Common Worship Order One (traditional language) – held once a month, on the first Sunday of the month at 11.30am. Special services and other activities are published on the church notice board. Enquiries about Baptisms, Confirmation, Banns and Marriages should be made to the Vicar Location: the Village of Chillingham lies 1 mile south of Chatton. Turn left in the village toward the Chillingham Wild Cattle Park and the parish church is at the bottom of the road. The church is normally open during day light hours and visitors are most welcome. History The church building: Saint Peter’s occupies the site of a 12th Century church. The interior is an unusual mixture of old and new. As well as ancient stone work, 19th century boxed pews, the sanctuary was completely refurbished in 1967, and a millennium plaque recognises that Christian worship has been offered on this site for over a thousand years. Perhaps most significant is the famous 15th century tomb of Sir Ralph Grey sited in the South Chapel. A detailed description of this tomb, published by the Society of Antiquities, is available at the back of church, for £3.50, the Vicar would be glad to supply copies to anyone interested.
